Top 10 Traffic Tactics
Having a blog is popular way to create an online presence for both personal and business reasons. You can virtually build a blog for free and then begin posting content right away. But, what good is having great content if no one is visiting to read it?
For every successful blog you find on the Internet, hundreds more have failed. Running a blog is much like running a business. Unless you are willing to put in the time and treat it seriously, you won’t be blogging long!
I’m not saying that all failed bloggers weren’t serious about blogging. But what I have observed is that many new bloggers aren’t prepared for the work that goes into creating a successful blog.
Build a blog and they will come
Just by building a blog doesn’t mean that people will automatically come to it. You must learn about and pursue the audience to give them a good reason to see what you have to say.
With that said, I present the top 10 traffic tactics you can use to bring in visitors that your blog will need to survive.
1. Fresh Content
No one wants to visit a blog day after day just to see the same posts. It is important to update your blog content at least twice a week if not more. This will be easier if you can write several posts ahead of time, then upload and schedule them to post at the appropriate times.
2. Article Marketing
Most likely the niche you’ve chosen for your blog is one that interests you. If you find it interesting, you’ll spend more time doing it. So you can create content not only for your blog, but also content to be submitted to article directories. Be sure to use the resource box to advertise your blog so people can find you.
3. Social Networking
These sites are everywhere. Join Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter or any of the dozens of other social network sites and make connections. You can find and join groups of like minded people who are also bloggers or online entrepreneurs.
4. Viral Marketing
This is where you start the spark by spreading the word around about your blog. Talk to friends, family and even strangers. Have them pass on your news. Also hand out business cards that have your blog address on them.
5. Use RSS Feeds
RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” Interested visitors can subscribe to your blog feed and get email updates when new content is posted. It is an easy way for them to keep up with your blog without having to spend all day online.
6. Submit Your Blog to Search Engines
By doing this helps your blog to be ranked. Google, Bing and Yahoo! are the most popular search engines that you want to crawl your blog pages. It doesn’t guarantee top ranking if at all, though. You’ll have to do a bit more work for that.
7. Join Related Forums
As a blogger you are a budding online entrepreneur. Right now you are marketing yourself to find traffic and then profit. Become a member of business forums, work at home forums and other marketing forums to meet new people and share ideas. Most times you can add a link to your blog in the signature line so others can find you.
8. Visit and comment on other blogs
Show your appreciation to those who visit you by also visiting and posting relevant comments on their blogs. It is a kindness that shows others you are not just out to advertise your blog alone. You can even add links to your blog in your comments on their blogs.
9. SEO Marketing
Whatever you write, be sure to use relevant keywords. Keyword density between three to eight percent is good for getting higher page rankings in search engines. Base your keywords on a research you do to find the most popular words used in search engines for your niche and in your posts.
10. Social Bookmarking
Marking your posts to social bookmarking sites allows others who are members of those sites to track you back to your blog.
Using any of these free top 10 traffic tactics will help start web traffic moving in your direction. All work but they do take time and help you to build the readership you want with your visitors.
